Medical Surgical Nursing 3rd Year Book PDF

This book is the third in a three part series on medical surgical nursing. In this book the topics covered are: Medical Assignments and Techniques Part I; Managing Workplace Health and Clinical Problems Part II; and Clinical Skills and Development Part III. I really enjoyed reading through these books. Actually, I recommend this book to anyone who has just graduated from medical school or who is about to graduate.

One thing I really like in this book is that Dr. Deming makes a point of emphasizing the importance of teamwork in any medical situation. He has you work with each other as a team during the course of your medical nursing course. You are not left on your own to handle any specific problem. There is also an emphasis on working in small units so that teamwork is more easily achieved. This can only be good news for surgical nurses looking for quickie certifications and first assignment opportunities after they have completed their training.

The book is organized by year, so that the student will have a clear indication of what they should be studying. This is very helpful as medical school can get pretty complicated at times. The first four chapters cover the basic medical sciences needed to perform a medical, surgical procedure. Each chapter includes information on the key terms and definitions, plus explanations of the laboratory techniques used to conduct the tests. In addition, about his there is a short overview of the physiology and anatomy of the human body.

The next four chapters deal with the ethical issues of medical research, including the protection of human subjects, informed consent, patient privacy, informed consent, neonatology, and infectious diseases. These chapters cover the legal issues involved in administering anesthesia, surgery, and specific surgical procedures. There is also a short account of animal research, with a focus on the importance of vaccines for animals and a description of some of the diseases associated with animals. The final four chapters include a brief survey of ethical decisions in surgery, an introduction to bioethical practices, and finally a brief survey of research methodology.

Like most other medical nursing publications, the book contains both text and illustrations throughout. The text includes both the explanations of surgical procedures as well as the opinions of experts on those procedures. The illustrations are usually color coded to indicate the medical subspecialties involved in the illustrations.

The book contains eleven sections including overviews of topics such as medical terminology, appropriate medical office practices, basic medical sciences, medical research methods, medical ethics, medical procedure design, medical logistics, medical billing and coding, therapeutic nursing, and hospital administration. While there are eleven chapters, some of the topics are repeated several times because they are important topics that should be reviewed in the first year medical nursing programs. However, some topics are dealt with more than once, which is a bit disconcerting to students who may feel the need to review these sections more than once. Reviewing topics more than once may be useful if a student wishes to learn more about a specific topic that was not covered in the textbook.

In addition, the book contains a brief essay about Medical Surgical Nursing that addresses the relationship between medical surgical nursing and anesthesia. The essay points out the similarities between the two nursing specialties. Then it goes on to list the differences between surgical and anesthetics, discussing the types of drugs used during surgical procedures. It then briefly outlines how each type of drug works, the types of medications used in anesthetics, and the different drugs that are combined with one another.

I really liked the way that Dr. Emmett’s book explained medical terminology. I especially enjoyed the detailed discussion about medical terms. The text is easy to read, although a little basic science is required. Medical terminology is one of the important elements that separate those with much training in medical nursing from those with less training. However, the third-year medical, surgical nursing students I taught in my program really benefited from the book, which was able to provide clear explanations of medical terms in a clear and concise manner.
